The “Peter Neaverson Workshop and Visitor Centre” has been constructed by our Mill Volunteers to enable their work to be made more effective and to provide improved facilities for our visitors.
The late Peter Neaverson was an active member of the Leicestershire Industrial History Society, he generously bequeathed a sum of money to the Trust which enabled us to build the Neaverson Centre and create a study area for visiting school children and interested groups to learn about Swannington, its industries and the projects of the Trust.
The Education Centre displays photographs of the mill’s restoration work and a working model of the mill. There are also railway models.
The building was constructed by Trust volunteers.
The "Jerry Leakins" building which adjoins the Neaverson Centre features information panels and railway models.
The building was officially opened by Peter's wife seen here with the boquet.
